I've mentioned elsewhere on this site that food is another big obsession of mine. Today was prep day. I pickled some stuff, began a sourdough starter, made a big batch of soup, and oh yeah, took a good chunk out of the outstanding work I needed to get done to become a content creator. The world definitely needs more of those.
Basically, I grabbed the handle "watchkdot" on YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter - although I'm not planning on using the Twitter one, just squatting it for now. I'll continue using my personal account, at least until I make it big. These days it's pretty difficult to find a reasonable handle across platforms but I'm satisfied with this one since it works off an existing handle of mine and isn't Drakklor-specific, so it can be used to pivot running or playing other games if the mood strikes me.
Before you know it, I'll be asking people to follow/like/subscribe/thumbs up/tell their friends/etc. What a world!
Anyway, I did some basic setup on the channels, and I uploaded my current best run to YouTube. By the way, that run is turning out to have some longevity. I did fewer runs than usual this week (still getting distracted by the Talos Principle 2), but didn't beat it. I guess this probably marks the first week since the start of the project which I haven't improved my time? I guess that's noteworthy.
I want to stream a set time every week, basically. As a viewer, for streamers I liked, I was always kind of frustrated when there wasn't a set schedule and/or there was but they would be late or skip shows and etc. I think consistency is important. Not that I'm doing this to get viewers - that's beside the point - but I'm doing it as an exercise to see what this whole process is like, and doing it the way I think is best. That means having a schedule.
So I've arbitrarily picked 8pm ET on Tuesdays. I might stream at other times when the mood strikes me (may as well always stream when sitting down to do runs?), but I'll try to at least stick to that. I won't be starting this week though - I still have the latter half of my mise to do - tech test and debugging any issues that come up, make a rudimentary overlay/layout, etc. Basically, do everything needed to be able to go live.
So that would make the inaugural stream Tuesday November 21st, 8pm ET if things go according to plan.
See you then?
